Evaluating your Home
You fill out the home survey (or just call us).
After an initial assessment we offer an appropriate level of consulting services that fit your goals.
Our agreement can be an hourly arrangement or a fixed fee for a particular scope of work. If there’s not a fit we’ll at least point you in the right direction!
Initial Scoping
We identify and compile available rebates, tax credits and other incentives.
We lay out a phasing schedule, to maximize economic payback and minimize carbon impact.
We gather estimates and plan next steps to put your new green tech in service.
Project Management
For larger remodel or new build projects, we can be your sustainability-focused owner’s representative, interacting directly with your design and building teams, and reporting to you.
We find and vet ’green-savvy’ contractors and engineers.
We oversee the commissioning of new equipment and train users as needed. We create a maintenance schedule and follow up to make sure things work at peak efficiency.
Additional Services
You may designate us as your agent with local utilities to schedule new electrical service, disconnect gas, sign up for green energy and ‘demand response’ programs to save even more money.
We advise on purchases of electric vehicles charging systems and ebikes.
We’re happy to set you up with household ‘best practices’, including composting, minimizing plastic use, sustainable gardening, programming thermostats and other energy saving interventions.
Why do I need a consultant?
The transition from fossil-fuel burning heating systems and appliances to super-efficient electric technology (like heat pumps!) is underway, but not all contractors and architects are up to speed. That’s where Dahlgren Green can help. We stay up to date on new technology, incentive programs, and efficient building methodologies so we can help you identify the best solution for your house, and then help you carry out the plan. The end result is a home that’s more comfortable, cheaper to operate, and better for the environment.
Dahlgren Green knows that a house is as unique as its owner, so our approach is tailored to each client, no matter what your budget is or what part of the country you live in. We don’t have financial ties to contractors or architects, so we are truly unbiased in our recommendations. And yet we can draw on 20+ years of experience in construction and architecture to authoritatively communicate with both the crew working on site and the designers back in the office.
